A Change of Plan - RetailEXPO 2020

Things are a bit different this week – we’re normally at the RetailExpo in London, one of Europe’s leading retail and digital events – The conference was due to take place at the London Olympia, with 3 large spaces dedicated to the latest ideas and technologies in the Retail sector. The event has always brought together some of industries most influential voices with industry leaders in Retail, Hospitality and Marketing. Unfortunately, this year’s show has inevitably been affected by the Coronavirus.

The event has now moved online so head over to the virtual conference to register and get the latest advice and opinion from industry experts – talks start on Wednesday at 11AM and finish at 430PM on Thursday, and with speakers including Radio 4’s Dr Hannah Fry, former Waitrose MD Mark Price, and Facebook’s Head of Industry for Retail Beth Horn the event will be engaging and insightful.

Former Waitrose MD, Mark Price, is kicking off the conference as he gives his thoughts on the future of the industry post Covid-19. Mark will also be looking at how retailers can capitalise on the technology revolution, as well as how the behaviours and expectations of the consumer have changed.

The expo will be wrapped up with a joint webinar which will firstly see Pizza Hut Digital Ventures analytics lead, Tristin Burns speak about Pizza Huts global ecommerce experience and how insights gained in smaller markets can optimise site performance in larger ones. He’ll be followed up by IGD Insight Services and Events Director, Ben Miller who will be predicting the “new normal” through a set of 10 hypotheses covering the impact on society, shoppers, and grocery retail.

We’ll be back next week to provide a bit of analysis, discuss our favourite talks and generally share our thoughts on one of the biggest dates in the retail calendar.
